Dish-Network Going IPTV with Vip-TV, ASAP…Now that’s a Mouth Full

On Monday October 22, Dish-Network unveiled its newest triumph over multichannel content transport and distribution.  IPTV otherwise referred to as Internet Protocol Television, is a system where digital television is delivered to the viewer by using Internet Protocol over a large network infrastructure, which may include delivery by broadband connection.  ViP-TV is an IP-based service that will send more than 300 of your favorite Dish-Network channels delivered via satellite to telco, private and rural cable companies, municipalities and video providers.

Still confused? Okay, so basically Dish-Network is raising the bar in technology and using state of the art, high tech, comprehensive satellite services to bring its viewers more than just programming and standard services.  ViP-TV includes Vip-Premier, ViP-HD, ViP-Movies, ViP-Latino and ViP-International along with providing subscribers with local networks from more than 165 local DMAs.  ViP-TV will have the essential features for of all modern computers, as it allows devices to transfer data without subjecting the CPU to a heavy overhead”, thank you Wikipedia!  So lets review: Dish-Network is unveiling ViP-TV for more than 300 channels, promising customers affordable, scalable, and aggregated audio and video programming from a high powered satellite, proving once again that there is a reason Dish-Network is your #1 satellite provider.

An Ode to Comcast About Satellite Television’s Hero Mona Shaw

Honey, get me the hammer”, A Comcast fairytale unravels
Comcastically Rendition of “There was an Old Lady Lived in A Shoe”

You’ve heard about Superman and Spiderman and the tales of Mighty Mouse, but have you heard about the old lady in Bristow, and her little brick red house?

Her name is Mona Shaw shes the old lady with a hammer, Who vandalized a Comcast office and still managed to avoid the slammer.

So fed up with poor service, and the installer that just never bothered to show, And the supervisor who left for the day and all of Comcasts excuses and woes.

She decided to take matters into her own hands, Becoming a modern day hero and gaining lots of fans.

She smashed the receptionists keyboard, and knocked over the monitor, She even smashed the telephone…this old lady is hard core.

Later on that day police arrested Shaw for disorderly conduct, she received a three-month suspended sentence, and was fined $345 bucks.

Here is some little advice for that corporate bully Comcast, Rate hikes and poor customer service are going to send your customers running fast,

To your competitors like Dish Network, whose customer service is ranked #1, With 13 million customers and still able to get the job done.

With 24 hour customer service and mangers who don’t just “leave for the day”, It seems pretty clear that there is not too much else to say.

For more information feel free to call Dish Network’s customer service center, And please let us help you remove the corporate cable splinter.

And here is one last note before we end Comcast’s fairytale gone wrong, Step it up cable companies because its “On like Donkey Kong”!

For more information on all Dish Network has to offer call 1-866-989-3474 or visit their website at www.dish-network.com.

Direct TV aims Directly at Customers Pocket Books

First off I would like to say Cheers to DIRECTV who has recently expanded its high-definition television programming at an increasing speed, but unfortunately my “cheers” are followed by “jeers”.  DirecTV customers are being given an ultimatum…either pay an additional $4.99 more each month or you will lose three of DIRECTV’s more popular high-definition channel lineups.  Beginning December 15th DIRECTV subscribers will lose viewer favorites like HDNet, HDNet Movies and Universal HD unless they agree to shovel out more money each month.  DIRECTV has created a HD programming package known as DIRECTV HD Extra Pack that will feature these channels for an additional $10.00 per month.

Unfortunately Directv customers, it doesn’t stop there.  In addition to viewers losing HDNet, HDNet Movies and Universal HD, DIRECTV is also planning on moving channels like Smithsonian HD, MGM HD and MHD (MTV’s new HD channel) over to their new DIRECTV HD Extra Pack.  Somebody needs to remind DIRECTV that they need us more than we need them.  Although DIRECTV is feeling a little money hungry other satellite providers like Dish Network are reminding its customers what real customer service is all about.  Dish Network is currently running an offer that allows customers to purchase a 200 channel plan for $49.99 guaranteed until 2009.  Dish Network’s new package dubbed the Dish DVR Advantage is an all-inclusive package featuring 200 of your favorite channels, including SIRIUS music and your local channels, plus 2-room DVR service and Free Standard Professional Installation.

For more information on all Dish Network has to offer call 1-866-989-3474 or visit their website at www.dish-network.com.

Comcast…or better yet, Com-costly hikes rates again!

For 12 straight years cable viewers have had to sit by and watch as cable companies raise rates.  In January 2007 Comcast raised their rates 4.1% and here we are only 10 months later seeing another increase.  Beginning November 5th Comcast customers will be forking over another 5% of their monthly cable charges.  You think that is bad, Comcast customers who just subscribe to basic limited programming will see a 12.5% increase on their overall monthly charges.  In addition, service and installation fees also are increasing, jumping 4.4% bringing standard installation to $47.50 per month.

So much for cutting back and trying to save a little money for the upcoming Holidays.  Bottom line Com-costly customers, no matter what your package, you rates are going up, and given Comcast’s track record, I’ll be writing this same article again in the Spring.  Here is the good news cable viewers…we live in a technology advanced country where you no longer have to open your wallet to big shot corporate companies, you have a choice in your cable provider.  Satellite companies like Dish Network are now offering their customers a $49.99, no rate increase guaranteed until 2009 package.  With this all-inclusive package, you get over 200 of your favorite channels, including SIRIUS music and your local channels, plus 2-room DVR service and Free Standard Professional Installation.

Dish Network’s Public Interest Channel Package

On February 23, 2006 Dish Network answered their customers request and assembled a package of 20 Public Interest Channels that are available for free! The Public Interest Channel Package isn’t automatically added, but, if a Dish Subscriber wishes to receive the programming package, they just need to ask their Customer Service Representative to add it on to their other DISH Network programming.

As far as what Dish Network Satellite Antenna is needed to receive the Dish Network’s Public Interest Channel Package, a subscriber will need a 2nd antenna pointed either the 61.5° and 148° orbital locations. This is due to the fact that 5 of the 20 channels are transmitted from the61.5° and 148° orbital locations. Since the Public Interest Channel Package is free, a customer who wants those channels broadcast from the 61.5° and 148° orbital locations will need to add/upgrade their antenna at their own expense.

DishFAMILY subscribers have been excluded from select Public Interest Channel programming due to potentially offensive or mature content. DishFAMILY customers may request this a la carte package of all Public Interest Channels with the understanding that it is at their own discretion.
