A Small-town in Texas, at a high school where football is like a religion, is the premise for a lot of the football movies out there today. The head coach is defied, and the 16-18 year old boys that are playing in the game carry the hopes and dreams of the small-town on their shoulders. ‘Varsity Blues’ stars Paul Walker as the head quarter back that finds himself hurt the first play of the season. James Van Der Beek is the backup that has the grueling task of stepping up to the plate and fulfilling the dreams of his parents and the head coach, played by Jon Voight. This is just one of the many great football movies that you should watch before this weekend’s Super Bowl between the New York Giants, and the New England Patriots. ‘The Blind Side (2009)’: A homeless teen gets adopted and taken in by a well to do family. This family nurtures him and eventually it is discovered that he has amazing athletic ability. This story chronicles the life of Michael Oher as he is welcomed into the home of a conservative suburban family and grows into a great athlete that was projected to be the first pick in the NFL Draft.
‘The Tillman Story (2002)’: following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Pat Tillman a defensive back with the Arizona Cardinals, joined the United States Army, believing that he had a duty to serve for his country in their time of need. Even though he had just signed a lucrative contract to play professional football, Tillman served a tour of duty in Iraq and was on patrol in Afghanistan when he was tragically killed in battle. When word spread about the unfortunate passing of Tillman, the Army issued a press release declaring he had been shot down while trying to heroically block the fire of a band of Taliban insurgents. The story sounded suspicious to his family and after researching and delving deeper into the investigation it is discovered that he was actually killed due to friendly fire. This story follows the family as they try to uncover and find out what really happened and why it was covered up.
‘NFL: Top 10: NFL’s Greatest Players (2011)’: This documentary profiles the ten greatest players in pro football history.
‘NFL: Super Bowl XLV Champions- Green Bay Packers’: Still reeling from the Packers not making the Super Bowl? Relive the highlights of the 45^th, a classic matchup between the Steelers and the Packers.
‘Manning vs. Manning’: Both Eli and Peyton Manning have led a team to a Super Bowl victories. In honor of Eli Manning playing in this year’s Super Bowl, Blockbuster is previewing ‘Manning vs. Manning’. This documentary will highlight the brother’s college careers.

The Bowl season for the Big 12 football teams hit high gear Wednesday, December 28^th, with No. 24 Texas (7-5) meeting California (7-5) in the Holiday Bowl. This marks the first of five bowls involving Big 12 Schools over the next week. The Bowl games started earlier this week and have continued to weed out the winners and the losers. Tuesday North Carolina beat out Louisville 31-24. It was a close game and in the very end the Cardinals had one last chance to send the game into overtime after stopping N.C. State on fourth-and-2. However luck was not on their side and on a third-and-12 Dontae Johnson sacked Bridgewater for an 11-yard loss setting up a game clinching interception by David Amerson. DISH Network Adds International Racing Channel – SPEED2 – to Exclusive Online Programming Options

DISH Network’s motocross fans that are already hooked on the TV Network SPEED, now have access to multiple international motor sports channels online through SPEED2. Most of the sporting events aired on SPEED2 can not be found on regular network television nor on the SPEED Channel through DISH Network; not to mention the exclusive “enthusiast titles” that are available online (see the ‘Victory By Design Jaguar’ video below). Yes, you did read that right, some of the best up and coming golfers on the PGA Tour recently traded in their golf swings for dance moves and I’ve got the music video for you to enjoy below. But first, a tournament of tradition, history and one of the toughest golf courses in the world, brings the top players in the PGA Tour to Congressional Country Club in Bethesda Maryland each year to compete in the U.S. Open. ESPN analyst, Andy North commented on the severity of this tournament in particular: “Playing in a U.S. Open, if you’re having fun there’s something wrong with you. It is the most brutal of all sports.”

This year’s 111th US Open will be one to watch as new leaders emerge and defending title holder, Graeme McDowell attempts a repeat win, but there will be one thing missing: Woods. Tiger Woods announced he will not be playing in this year’s U.S. Open, which may actually spotlight the golf tournament coverage in a new way without having to hear the incessant scrutiny over Woods’ recently shaky game.

According to USAToday.com, even without Woods in the tournament this year, ESPN, Golf Channel and NBC are all promising extensive TV coverage: ESPN will air 44 TV hours, Golf Channel will air about 50 TV hours and NBC will have complete tournament coverage over the weekend. If you’re wondering who’s currently at the top of the leader board, here are some of the results so far (as of 1:30pm PT): Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) in the lead at -4, Rory Sabbatini (South Africa) and Y.E.
