  • ‘What My Husband Doesn’t know’ (2011): Maybe not the most romantic story, but this is a thriller about a frustrated housewife that faces temptation in the form of a young, handsome, plumber. Lena is a frustrated wife, with a workaholic husband, that is trying to maintain an air of normality. Once the plumber is hired, Lena begins to weigh the pros and cons of taking on a new lover.
  • ‘Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall’ (2011): The popular Andrew Lloyd Webber musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ is performed at London’s Royal Albert Hall in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary.

  • ‘Two and a Half Men’ (CBS): Walden is up to his same old tricks, this episode he tries to get Zoey to loosen up by sneaking her some of Berta’s special brownies.

  • ‘Smash’ (NBC): Maybe you have heard about this show and the series premiere being tonight? If you haven’t, ‘Smash’ is about two ingénues that are vying for the lead role in a stage musical about Marilyn Monroe.
  • ‘Hawaii Five-O’: in Typical Hawaii Five-O fashion a dirty cop from Danno’s past comes to the island to exact revenge on Danno and his family for ruining his life, forcing the Five-O to find a way to help their teammate.

The head coach is defied, and the 16-18 year old boys that are playing in the game carry the hopes and dreams of the small-town on their shoulders. ‘Varsity Blues’ stars Paul Walker as the head quarter back that finds himself hurt the first play of the season. James Van Der Beek is the backup that has the grueling task of stepping up to the plate and fulfilling the dreams of his parents and the head coach, played by Jon Voight. This is just one of the many great football movies that you should watch before this weekend’s Super Bowl between the New York Giants, and the New England Patriots. Blockbuster @Home brings you some other great choices, which are sure to get you pumped for the game.

 

  • ‘The Blind Side (2009)’: A homeless teen gets adopted and taken in by a well to do family. This family nurtures him and eventually it is discovered that he has amazing athletic ability. This story chronicles the life of Michael Oher as he is welcomed into the home of a conservative suburban family and grows into a great athlete that was projected to be the first pick in the NFL Draft.
  • ‘The Tillman Story (2002)’: following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Pat Tillman a defensive back with the Arizona Cardinals, joined the United States Army, believing that he had a duty to serve for his country in their time of need. Even though he had just signed a lucrative contract to play professional football, Tillman served a tour of duty in Iraq and was on patrol in Afghanistan when he was tragically killed in battle. When word spread about the unfortunate passing of Tillman, the Army issued a press release declaring he had been shot down while trying to heroically block the fire of a band of Taliban insurgents. The story sounded suspicious to his family and after researching and delving deeper into the investigation it is discovered that he was actually killed due to friendly fire. This story follows the family as they try to uncover and find out what really happened and why it was covered up.
  • ‘NFL: Top 10: NFL’s Greatest Players (2011)’: This documentary profiles the ten greatest players in pro football history.
  • ‘NFL: Super Bowl XLV Champions- Green Bay Packers’: Still reeling from the Packers not making the Super Bowl? Relive the highlights of the 45th, a classic matchup between the Steelers and the Packers.
  • ‘Manning vs. Manning’: Both Eli and Peyton Manning have led a team to a Super Bowl victories. In honor of Eli Manning playing in this year’s Super Bowl, Blockbuster is previewing ‘Manning vs. Manning’. This documentary will highlight the brother’s college careers.
  • ‘Friday Night Lights (Season 2)’: This is the critically acclaimed series inspired by the best-selling book and hit film, ‘Friday Night Lights’ provides a heartfelt look into the lives of families, friends and players in a small Texas town.

Announced last summer, the fifth season of “Chuck” is officially the last season and tonight is the night of the series finale. “One thing that made ‘Chuck’ different is that the cast and crew opened their arms to the ‘Chuck’ fans,” said fan Gray Jones. Jones was such a fan of the show, he has hosted a ‘Chuck’ podcast for several years and done over 120 interviews he has done with the cast and crew.

For those of you that don’t know ‘Chuck’ is an action-comedy/spy-drama program created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. Zachary Levi plays an average computer genius next door named “Chuck”. The story is based around an email that inadvertently embeds the message into his brain. The twist is the message is the only remaining copy of The United States greatest spy secrets. The series has been followed by mediocre ratings but have been saved many times due to the successful campaigns waged by their very loyal followers, toward NBC. For the fans that will truly miss the show, you are in for a treat tonight, Zachary Levi says that the finale will honor the action packed roots that it came from. You will witness many throwbacks to the beginning of the series. This film chronicles stunning new developments to the case, culminating in the startling and unexpected conclusion when Echols (who was on Death Row), Baldwin and Misskelley (both serving life sentences) were released from prison after more than 18 years behind bars. “Almost 20 years and three films ago, HBO’s Sheila Nevins sent us on this journey to document the terrible murders of three innocent boys and the subsequent circus that followed the arrests and convictions of Echols, Baldwin, Misskelley,” says filmmaker Joe Berlinger. “To see our work culminate in the righting of this tragic miscarriage of justice is more than a filmmaker could ask for.”

Here is a little back story if you missed the first two episodes in the series. On May 5, 1993, the bodies of three eight-year-old boys were found next to a muddy creek in the wooded Robin Hood Hills area of West Memphis, Ark. A month later, Echols, Misskelley and Damien were arrested and later convicted of brutally raping, mutilating and killing the eight-year-old boys. Their trials were laced with innuendoes of satanic worship, emotionally charged statements and allegations of coerced confessions, the defendants were convicted, despite a lack of physical evidence linking them to the crime. With the support of HBO producer Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky followed the story for almost two decades. They assumed they were making a film about guilty teenagers, as the local media was reporting that it was an open and shut case. However by the time the trials were over, Berlinger and Sinofsky were convinced they had just witnessed a huge injustice.
