Watch TV Smarter With The Blockbuster Movie Pass, DISH Network and Logitech

December 7, 2011 No Comments

Although Logitech has said it will stop making set-tops that deliver the Google TV platform, DISH Network is continuing to market the Revue box to its subscribers. “DISH Network continues to collaborate with Logitech to bring customers this next version of Logitech Revue with Google TV,” Vivek Khemka, DISH VP of product management, said in Wednesday’s announcement.

When Google unveiled its Google TV product they also announced a deal with DISH Network that allows it to use a pairing protocol to integrate Google TV content with its satellite TV programming. This is something that just isn’t allowed with cable. DISH Network continues to support the Google TV product and the software development that will enhance the Google TV experience for our customers, even after inventory is depleted. Moving forward they hope to continually look for new ways to better there customers TV viewing experience.

One of the ways DISH hopes to do that is by offering Blockbuster Movie Pass for $10 a month for DISH Network subscribers. They’ll get a one-disc-at-a-time subscription with the upgrade options of $15 and $20 a month for two and three discs at a time. All three plans will have the same streaming offerings. Here is a preview of what Blockbuster Movie Pass can offer you and your family:

  • Streaming: For now, the computer streaming offerings are limited to DISH customer computers via DISHOnline.com with a limited selection of 4000 movie and “hundreds” of TV titles available to watch instantly. DISH Network execs promised to expand DishOnline service to mobile devices by the end of 2011.
  • One Bill: Both DISH and Blockbuster executives continually stressed the simplicity of the Blockbuster Movie Pass as an all-in-one solution. Clearly, this was a jab at Netflix’s recent split of its streaming and by-mail options that upset Netflix users. “Unlike other companies, we offer the simplicity of one company, one bill, and one connection.” Said Clayton.
