When ABCannounced they were cancelling ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life to Live’ it seemed like the end of daytime television. There is no need to worry though because ABC has plans to replace their two longest running programs with two great new shows. That means that ‘All My Children’ would end in September 2011 and ‘One Life to Live’ would end in January 2011, and both would be replaced with food, entertainment and lifestyle type of shows.  The First is ‘The Chew,’ a Mario Batali-hosted food show. This program will feature a dynamic group of engaging, fun, and likable experts in the food, lifestyle and entertainment industries. The lineup features celebrity chef Mario Batali, Michael Symon and Carla Hall, lifestyle expert Clinton Kelly and the new face for healthy living Daphne Oz. ‘The Chew’ premieres Monday, September 26thand it will air weekdays at 1pm et/12 pm pt/c. ‘The Chew’ is running a sweepstakes called the Ultimate Food Lover’s Sweepstakes. Enter to win and you could be on your way to an all-expense paid trip to New York City, where you will attend a taping of ‘The Chew’ and dine at Lupa and Del Posto, both of Mario Batali’s restaurants. The winner will also receive a $250 gift certificate to ‘Eataly,” the largest artisanal food and wine marketplace in the world. ‘The Revolution’ is the tentative name for the show that will be replacing ‘One Life to Live’ in January. This is a health/lifestyle transformation type of show. We will post more information as it becomes available.

“While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can’t help but recognize how bittersweet the change is,” Brian Frons, ABC’s daytime department president, said in an announcement. “We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming these days. They are telling us there is room for informative, authentic and fun shows that are relateable, offer a wide variety of opinions and focus on ‘real life’ takeaways.” To add ABC to your programming visit us at Dish Systems or call (866)989-3474.
