Oscar Nominations 2012: Who Came Out On Top and Who Got Overlooked

Hollywood is abuzz with the sound of Oscar nominations. Who was a surprise, who got snubbed and who deserves to take home the coveted gold statue? One of the biggest surprises was the Martin Scorsese directed 3-D film, ‘Hugo’, that earned 11 nominations followed closely by ‘The Artist’ with 10 nominations. ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ was considered a long shot for the best picture category but it was recognized along with nine other films for the night’s top honors. Fan favorite comedy ‘Bridesmaids’ didn’t make the best picture list but funny woman Melissa McCarthy got a best supporting actress nomination. First time nominees include Jonah Hill for ‘Money Ball’, Gary Oldman for ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ and Demian Bichir for ‘A better life.’ Many are calling this the year of the “Feel-Good” nominee.
